While I was visiting my daughter in Franklin, TN, in January of this year, I had a problem with her dishwasher. I called A-1 Appliance, explained the problem, and asked them if they could send a Tech to repair it that day, which was a Friday, if at all possible. They checked with their parts department and realized they did not have the part they needed in stock. However, they told me they would make some checks to try and locate the part, then call me back. Within minutes they called back and said they could send the Tech out that afternoon. He had to go pick up the part before coming to the house. The Tech arrived at the agreed upon time, quickly made the needed repairs, and made a couple of additional adjustments on the dishwasher. He was very professional and even took his shoes off at the door. When I initially spoke to the person answering the phone, she explained to me they charged a set amount just for the service call, whether or not they made the repairs. I understood this because it is only a part of operating a business. My daughter and I were very pleased with the service we received and the dishwasher is still working great. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. They are prompt, professional and I think reasonable on their services costs.

Techs came out for warranty repair, freezer that never functioned properly - refrigerator that ran warm, new refrigerator. The first tech didn't even look, just stated - you need a therostat, another company already replaced the thermostat which I had already told this tech. I pressed him to look more closely as I suspected there was an issue with the compressor or freon, he took some temperatures begrudgingly and stated yes, both units were way too warm but he could not troubleshoot any further he said he was not qualified. He had to send out a specialized tech. The "specialized tech" looked at coils, took 5 minutes to pull a panel off (and was very simple process) he said it was the compressor and would not troubleshoot further. Then he called Maytag told Maytag, untruthfully, that our kitchen was a health hazard, and he was refusing service. What I found out when an ethical company came out - A&E, is that after the tech diagnosed the issue he would then really have to work to further troubleshoot. A&E - did a full troubleshoot and narrowed it down to freon was either not charged properly at the factory or is leaking - A&E was willing to spend 2 hours to diagnose the compressor was functioning but the freon was not charged enough, they placed a dye kit on the freezer, recharged, gave us very specific instructions on what to watch for if it is a leak and immediately report, all I can assume is that A-1 (whose techs are also very rude), will go to any length to collect a warranty repair fee without doing any work. I could have googled better information.
