TECO Energy is an integrated energy-related holding company with regulated utility businesses that are complemented by a family of unregulated businesses. Its principal subsidiary, Tampa Electric Company, is a regulated utility with both electric and gas divisions (Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System). Other subsidiaries are engaged in waterborne transportation, coal, and synthetic fuel production and electric generation and distribution in Guatemala. TECO Energy is headquartered in Tampa, Fla. Tampa Electric is a subsidiary of TECO and a regulated electric utility with more than 4,400 megawatts of generating capacity. Tampa Electric s service area covers 2,000 square miles in West Central Florida, including nearly all of Hillsborough County and parts of Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties in Florida. More than 625,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers depend on Tampa Electric for reliable power.
